ART & SOL

ARTWORK AND PHOTOGRAPHS

Are you eighteen years or older?  Has your poetry been previously published at Sol Magazine?  Would you like us to consider posting a photograph of your original artwork, or one of your scenic photographs to one of our websites?  Have you been asked to submit your photographic portrait for use at Sol Magazine or Ampersand Poetry Journal?

ARTWORK:  Do not mail us artwork; instead, send us a close-up photograph of the artwork.  Your full name and e-mail address will be published with your photograph.

SCENIC PHOTOGRAPH: Scenic photos are preferred, but well-done photographs of momentous events are also considered.  We are not looking for everyday photographs, but landscapes or photographic essays like that of Ansel Adams, Annie Leibovitz, Dorothea Lange, Alfred Stieglitz, or Christopher Burkett.  Your full name and e-mail address will be published with your photograph.

PORTRAIT:  Only when requested, send us a close-up color portrait of yourself where you are dressed in business attire and are the only one in view.  If you have no other picture of yourself, we may consider a photograph that could be easily cropped to remove a distracting background or someone else in the picture.  Your full name will be published with your photograph.
Photographs are not returned.  Do not send electronic files.  Do not send us the only copy of your photograph.  Do not fold or bend the photograph, or write on the front, back, or margin, or staple anything to it.  We are not interested in posting scatological, salacious artwork or photographs.  Photographs that make a political or religious statement may be considered, but only if we have requested such works.

In a cover letter, include the purpose of your submission, your full name, mailing address, and e-mail address.  Give permission to crop and/or enhance your photograph if needed, and permission to publish it to one of our websites.  Unless a winner of a special Sol Magazine competition, no remuneration is possible, only recognition and publication on one of our websites.

Protect your photograph by sandwiching it between two sheets of cardboard.  Write "DO NOT BEND" on the envelope.  Include your cover letter and permissions with the photograph of your artwork, your scenic shot, or your requested portrait, and send to this address:
