Lisa Morano is a Professor of Biology
and Microbiology at the University of Houston-Downtown where she
has served since 2001.  She teaches many courses in
environmental science and also currently serves as the Director
for Center for Urban Agriculture and Sustainability.  She is
passionate about the intersection of art and science where
students can gain valuable critical thinking skills and reflect
with what they are learning.  She particularly enjoys reading
and writing poetry.  Like a scientific formula she believes a
poem is an attempt to convey a complex concept as efficiently as
      possible.
