Watch the Thought
Watch the thought and its ways with care,
And let it spring forth born of love,
Display a heart that is unrestrained,
Live here the life divine.
Thoughts, as words, their desires declare,
The words manifest as the deed,
The deed, as habit, becomes sustained
In living life divine.
Standing, walking, become aware
Devoting your mind to this thought:
Within your heart grows a love untamed
Living here life divine.

Threnody
On a cold, rainy November
night James Michael died
as I cradled him in
my new mother's arms
we were so young and
now in the silent space of
a heartbeat
I am so old
and my new mother's
arms are empty.
The chill panes are misted
with my breath
indifferent raindrops
splatter turgid trickling
half-moon rivers
I do not see
their source I
cannot know their end.
James Michael has rested
on his seventh day of creation.
please
make
it
stop
raining
There is Work to be Done
There is work to be done,
Find the mission that will call you,
Learn to limp, and be gentle in your wrath;
Cross the mountain: pass the pebbles in your path.
When I give what I've won,
Then I seek to freely serve you,
Thus fulfilling the task that we all have;
Cross the mountain: pass the pebbles in your path.
Turn your face to the sun,
Let the shadows fall behind you;
And we'll pass all the pebbles in our path,
Crossing mountains, passing pebbles in our path.

august ashes
I turn away
an instant
miss the moment
of destruction
miss the
incendiary moment
between what was
and what is
miss you
the instant I turn away
